Write for us
Clear Arts Journal welcomes pitches that help general readers notice how creative works are made and experienced. Proposals should be specific, well scoped and grounded in examples a reader can examine.
What to pitch
We welcome essays and explainers on visual art, literature, music, theatre and dance. A strong idea asks a clear question about a form, technique, convention or creative choice, then answers it with focused examples. We also welcome comparisons that explain what changes between the options, rather than simply ranking them.
What makes a strong proposal
Tell us the working title, central idea, likely structure and why the subject suits Clear Arts Journal. Name the examples you plan to discuss and explain how you will support factual claims. Keep the pitch distinct from familiar broad surveys; a narrow, well-supported question is usually more useful than a claim to cover everything.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please include enough detail to assess the idea, but do not send a complete manuscript unless requested. A proposal is not a promise of publication, and Clear Arts Journal cannot guarantee a reply by a particular date.
Art rewards close attention
There is no single right response to a work. Looking, listening and reading carefully can show how its choices shape what you experience.
