Clear Arts Journal

Editorial policy

Clear Arts Journal aims to make arts writing accurate, independent and clear about what is fact, interpretation or opinion. Our articles explain creative choices without presenting one reading as the only possible one.

Accuracy and context

We check names, dates, quotations and factual claims against suitable sources before publication. Where a detail is uncertain or a work supports more than one interpretation, we say so. We aim to describe works and traditions in context and avoid treating one example as representative of an entire art form or culture.

Independence and partner material

Editorial decisions are made for readers, not to secure favourable coverage. Any paid, sponsored or partner material is clearly labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. A partnership does not guarantee a favourable mention or influence an article’s conclusions.

Corrections

Readers can report an error through the Contact page. We review specific, verifiable concerns and correct confirmed errors as clearly as the format allows. A correction may also clarify wording that could give a misleading impression; disagreement about interpretation alone is not necessarily an error.

Illustrations

Some illustrations may be AI-generated. When an illustration is AI-generated, we label it accordingly. Illustrations are not evidence about an artwork, artist or historical event, and we do not present generated imagery as a documentary image.

Our point of view

Art rewards close attention

There is no single right response to a work. Looking, listening and reading carefully can show how its choices shape what you experience.
